On the 100th anniversary of Cohasset’s Sandy Beach, we would like to announce the planned construction of a new beach house. The proposed structure will replace the current (well-loved but crumbling) facility. 

For those new to the area or unfamiliar with how Sandy Beach operates, here is a brief history:

Starting in 1917, the Sandy Beach Association, a group of Cohasset volunteers, purchased the current property and have since been responsible for the protection, management, and maintenance of one of Cohasset’s most treasured and highly used assets.

For a century, the beach has survived solely from generous gifts from citizens like you, as its single source of revenue. Please realize that Cohasset’s Sandy Beach receives no financial assistance from federal, state, or town coffers. In fact, no money generated from facilities stickers or parking tickets are passed along to the Sandy Beach Association.

The plans for the Sandy Beach House include:

• A new area to sell snacks and beverages
• Updated bathroom and changing facilities
• An attractive & informative Welcome Center
• Increased storage
• Offices for the lifeguard staff
