for Beach Maintenance Crew & Snack bar Attendant

Located in the heart of Cohasset, Massachusetts, Sandy Beach is a privately developed barrier beach owned and managed by the Sandy Beach Association (SBA). Hundreds of people visit Sandy Beach each summer, and the Association is committed to providing a clean, safe beach for our patrons to enjoy. Finding the right staff is essential to delivering on our promise to our community.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Ever wonder why Sandy Beach appears so pristine every morning? Our Sandy Beach Maintenance Crew staff patrols the area each morning, eliminating trash and debris accumulated or washed ashore during the night – recycling whenever possible.

This team is responsible for daily restroom maintenance, ensuring the facilities are clean and appropriately outfitted for the onslaught of happy beach-goers. Should someone need help with a cumbersome cooler or a station wagon load of beach paraphernalia, a Sandy Beach Crew Member is also responsible for offering a helping hand.

Because the Sandy Beach parking lot requires a parking pass, the Sandy Beach Maintenance Crew’s job is also to ensure that each vehicle entering has met this qualification by sitting at the entrance gate and checking stickers.

Employment Time Frame:

  • Sandy Beach will open daily from June 7 to September 1, 2025.

  • Staff is expected to be available on part-time shifts one week before opening to prepare the beach for opening (unless school is still in session).

  • During the summer (June 7 – September 1, 2025), the beach will be open 7 days a week.

  • Beach Maintenance staff will work approximately 6-12 hours per week depending on need and availability.

  • Staff members must be available for weekend shifts and holidays.

  • Staff must be able to do one shift each weekend throughout the season (excluding requested and approved time off).

Application Procedure:

  • All candidates (must be age 14 by June 1, 2025) must complete the Sandy Beach Association Sandy Beach Maintenance Crew Employment Application. We typically hire rising high school freshmen and sophomores for this role.

SANDY BEACH SNACK BAR ATTENDANT

The mission of Sandy Beach’s snack bar, The Sandbar, is to serve delicious and healthy snacks and to-go meals during the summer months. When possible, we use local vendors, employ Cohasset kids, and serve products in environmentally sensitive, compostable packaging. All sales from the Sandbar benefit the Sandy Beach Association and support the beach's operations. On a typical day, several attendants work alongside our Snack Bar Manager, and they work together throughout the day to ensure a wonderful guest experience.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sandbar Attendant’s primary responsibilities include preparing and serving food, selling food through our POS system, communicating any inventory needs, maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times, and ensuring trash levels in and around the snack bar are maintained, all while following our strict food service policies and safety procedures. We are looking for proactive individuals who enjoy interacting with customers, who can problem solve when an issue arises, and, importantly, who want to hustle. While previous food service experience is not necessary, applicants with this will be preferred.
